It seems like Christmas on the Reservation can never come quick enough, but it’s finally here! Santa’s helpers from Love Has No Color are going to visit the kids at their schools and hand out some terrific gifts.
Santa’s helpers come from near and far. This year we have people traveling from Boston, Florida, Wisconsin, Virginia, and various parts of Canada! They all come together to spread Christmas joy to the kids on the Fort Peck Reservation.
These gifts look like just like the ones kids off the Reservation would receive…but they’re not. They are so much more. They’re symbols of hope and part of a brighter future for these kids.
A lot of kids after they’ve outgrown their coats, boots, or clothes keep them anyways. It’s a reminder of the joy they felt when receiving it. Some kids also pass them on to siblings, cousins, or others in need.
A single gift at just the right time in a child’s life can really help turn things around.
Lots of people say “why bother” or “it’s not my problem!”
That’s how problems become chronic with no solutions in sight. Everyone keeps passing the buck and leaving others to solve it.
Love Has No Color is dedicated to wiping out extreme hopelessness with these kids and beyond.
Thanks to the tireless work of Kenny Smoker, HPDP, the teachers, and volunteers that help each and every year.
We hope this upcoming year marks the greatest single year in the lives of these kids thus far!
